Support a cause: January charities
Since launching ‘Support a Cause’ on Gener8, we’ve raised thousands of 💰 for a wide range of charities. Thanks to you, we continue to hit our donation goals each month 🙌.
The best thing about it? We’re able to support some amazing causes through donating points gained from browsing the web as we usually would each day. It’s so EASY.
Let’s keep this up for 2022. We’ve got some great causes lined up, but we’re always open to suggestions. If you have a charity you’d like to see on the Gener8 Rewards, then let us know! 💌
In the meantime, check out this month’s charities on Support a Cause ⬇️.
VEGANUARY
Every year, Veganuary inspires people across 200 regions to try out the vegan diet. Launching in 2014, the NGO’s participation has more than doubled each year, with the number of people participating in 2022 hitting 2 million 🙌.
Their aim?
🐮 Protect animals by educating and campaigning against animal suffering and slaughter on farms through media engagement and effective marketing campaigns.
🥦 Improve human health by introducing the vegan diet into more lives (eating animal-free can help lower cholesterol levels as well as reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes 👌).
🌎 Reduce the impact of eating meat on the planet. Recent research has found that cutting meat and dairy products from your diet could reduce your carbon footprint from food by up to 73%.
ALCOHOL CHANGE UK
British charity, Alcohol Change, launched Dry January back in 2012 as an initiative to ‘ditch the hangover, reduce the waistline and save some serious money by giving up alcohol for 31 days’. Today, millions of people take part in the New Year challenge.
This month on Gener8 Rewards, you can help support Alcohol Change achieve its goals to:
💡 Educate on the harms of alcohol and help reduce it. Alcohol Change UK uses donations to fund valuable research so that we can learn more about the impact of alcohol on human health.
🗳️ Use their research to influence policy, law, and regulation changes to make a difference to millions of lives.
🤝 Fund better support and treatment. Alcohol Change support services in the UK that help people towards recovery.
ATLANTIC PACIFIC
Atlantic Pacific International Rescue is an NGO committed to combatting global drowning. Every year, it’s estimated that around 235,600 people drown worldwide. Atlantic Pacific strives to prevent this by providing lifeboats and training, particularly to areas in need 🙌.
They work all over the world and provide their services to areas that do not have a water rescue service in place. This is especially valuable for regions that, as a result of global climate change, are more affected by natural disasters and flooding.
Nationally, Atlantic Pacific offers educational sessions to young people. They introduce ideas around water safety and highlight awareness of the risk of natural disasters and climate change in the wider world. Internationally, their Lifeboat in a Box educational programme offers a summer camp to teach young people about sea safety, pollution, and search and rescue techniques 🌊.
